FreShmaN OrIenTatTion WeEk II...

Today is the last day of July. That's fast.

Yawn.. hasn't been getting enough sleep recently. Just returned from FOW after the fright night. Was pretty successful I must say. Shan't say more.. kinda shagged out. Let the pics do the talking...

A view of Dairy Farm Road on the cab I was in today.

What are my OG ppl looking at??

Oh.. they are painting the banner.

The finished product. The horns on the head represents the horns of capricorn (The Goat)

Had dinner outside LT 32. Chicken wing + you tiao with mayo.

Discussion after 1st fright night station.

Storyteller at the entrance of 2nd station.

Discussion after 2nd fright night station.

Really?! Charles screamed?!?!

Some captions are added on my own and do not reflect the true meaning of the people in the photos. Enjoy...

FreShmaN OrIenTatTion WeEk I...

Today is the first day of the freshman orientation week (FOW). The turnout today was not too bad and I must agree that this year freshman are more sporting. So the whole morning we spent playing ice breakers and painting the banner. It was great seeing the freshies taking initiative to start the painting and design.

Right now, I am in the Maths Lab trying to bid for my modules. Close bidding liao. I hope that I can get my EC1301 module for 1 point. Haha.. So farny, such as hot module for 1 point. Now I know how others did it. Keke.. alright.. better go for my mass dance. Haha...

CaN yOu EsCapE...

Found these two flash games that are really tough on ur mouse and ur mind.

Crimson Room - Try escaping from this room.
Viridian Room - Crimson Room Part 2.

Had rag dance today.. Went to MPSH 6 to practice. WIthout mirrors. Not that I use mirrors a lot. But today there were more space for us to perform and I dun feel so claustrophobic as in the dance studio. We managed to completed close to 90% of the dance itself. But formation wise, I think we still can buck up.

Anyway, realised that Principles of Economics can be bidded in Round 1C. Just click on the other time slots and not the 1st Group timeslot cuz I think its reserved for econs ppl or is it a CORS bug?? Haha.. Anyway now we are like bidding for friday slots and going for monday lecture. And we get it for only 1 point. (At least up till now it is still one point). At least my general account can be used for other hot modules. Hee hee.

ScHooL's StArting... I'm NoT ReAdy...

Schol officially reopens in 10 days time. 3 months is over in a blink of an eye. Looked back and asked, what have I been doing these 3 months?

Upgrading myself? Nope.
Revising my work? Nope.
Helping out with the housework? Apparently not!
Lazing around? Yes.
Playing a lot? Yes.

So it seems that these 3 months have been quite a waste if not for the FOC, FOW, Rag dance and many other miscellaneous stuff that I was/am involved in. The real busy week has come and sometimes, I hope that school quickly starts. I want a less hectic schedule especially since now I have four students to handle. It means more income yes, but it also means more time management on my part. Sigh...

Rag dance tomolo again. 10.30 AM till 3+. Got FOW meeting, cannot go. Will call Justin after dance to see if they are still in school making the ID tags. Guess I won't make such a impression on the freshies this FOW.

The feeling of burning out creeps up to me as the days goes by. Maybe its the rag dance that's making me nervous. Come on, perform in front of a near 1000 crowd? Or is it more than 1000? Maybe its all the tuition lessons that are cramped together that's zapping my energy. Or could it be those late night games? It could be. My guess is a combination of all and perhaps more other hidden factors. I hope to get rid of my stage-fright if you could call it a stage.

These trival stuff aside, went for tuition today and ate at sakae sushi. Quite worth it...

BiDDinG UpDatEs...

Spectro minimum bid juz rose to 619 at 11:27 AM today. So jia lat! IT 1001 minimum bid rose to 800+ (I think it was 801) but the number of bidders dropped to 86! Must be people dun wish to bid so high for IT 1001. Highest bidder dropped to 1800+. Yesterday it was 1982. I was wondering whether is it a prank played by those who don't wish to take and sabo us by spoiling the market, then before close bidding, retract their bids and watch the show. Idiots man.. What are they thinking of anyway.. When I store enough points, they'll see.. 2K highest bid. Let them panic. Blardy hell!

Gotta bathe and head for school already. Rag dance today but I'll check with chem department regarding that IT 1001. So much problems. Haizz..

Oh yah, just received another tuition student yesterday. So lucky man.. In YCK.. so near my other student. Haha..

BiDDinG...

Was totally disgusted today when I returned home and discovered that the module IT1001 has a minimum bid point of 400+. And guess what was the maximum? 1982 points. Where the hell did these suckers get that many points. Damm...

A little while later, discovered that IT1001 can be bidded using the general account under the Breadth Modules drop down list. But then would the system treat it as I am taking it as a breadth or a fac requirement? So messy..

Anyway, bidding for my 3 chemistry modules now and 2 of them are pretty okie.. Vacancy > Bidders. Spectro however has a minimum bid of 501 at last count. Why so many people bidding for spectro? Or should I ask, how come the vacancy for spectro is so little @ 170. Are there only 170 chem majors? Or is it half of the chem majors are taking it this sem and the other half next sem. But if I am not wrong, there should be around 400 chem majors!

Tried out our costumes today. And they were pretty cool although feels wierd and airy. *LOL* But the arm and leg armour and the mask look evil indeed. Haha.... can't wait to try practicing with the armour on. Haha...

Okie.. think I going to sleep. Not bidding anymore. Tomolo can continue. Yawnz... Biosynthesis out.

OwE $$ PaY $$

Tuition kid never pay up again. And this is the second time. Hmm.. either she act blur or she trying to drag. I wonder why I dun have problems with other students. Sianz.. thought can buy some stuff I like but... :(

Nothing eventful today.. just plain old tuition. I think I better refresh my memory soon. A level questions looks foreign to me today. Haha.. must be too long away from books.

Bidding starts today at 9am. Betta place some bids before I go school. Or should I bid in school... Hmm....

I, RoBot...

Caught I, Robot today and I must say the effects were fantastic. Acting wise, more or less as usual. But those bots were way cool. Of course there were a few matrix-look-alike scenes. Wonder when people will stop mimicking the trilogy. The show lasted for about 2 hours. Was worth the money I think. Quite a number of jokes to add to the script. One goes something like "I am allergic to bullshit."

Haha.. doesn't have the effect here though. Catch the show if you have time. It is really great!

BuSy WeEk aHeAd...

Next week would be a terribly busy week. 4 days of dance followed by FOW. Yawns... Sounds so much like NS minus the regimentation.

Haven been spending time at home recently. Parents asking why I keep going out and never at home. I am at home, when they are sleeping. Haha....

Nothing much happening today. Just plain old day and nothing else. Everyone getting nervous over bidding and modules and timetable. Getting sick of it.. I believe everyone feels the same.

TiReD...

So tired recently. Have been waking up early these few days. This is so not-me. Anyway received news that next week rag dance would be tuesday, wednesday and thursday!! Consecutive days!! My gawd. But at least I get to rest on Monday after my tuition.

Oh, bought an burner and lavender essential oil yesterday. Was really cool. Now my room smells of lavender. Puts me to sleep though... Haha.

Alright.. been deciding on what modules to take these days and I think I am going crazy thinking about so much modules. Had a meeting today with shu hui, sheena, justin, val and kat after the rag dance. Finally settled on the three chemistry modules + a few others like remote sensing for earth observation, principles of econs etc etc... Time table almost ready. And most likely to have one free day.. Yay!!!

Aye.. time to sleep liao... so tired and fatigued. Ciaoz.

What the Modern Woman Wants...

Will you do this next time? Kinda sad to hear such real stories.

What the Modern Woman Wants by Amanda Chong Wei-Zhen

The old woman sat in the backseat of the magenta convertible as it careened down the highway, clutching tightly to the plastic bag on her lap, afraid it may be kidnapped by the wind. She was not used to such speed, with trembling hands she pulled the seatbelt tighter but was careful not to touch the patent leather seats with her callused fingers, her daughter had warned her not to dirty it, 'Fingerprints show very clearly on white, Ma.'

Her daughter, Bee Choo, was driving and talking on her sleek silver mobile phone using big words the old woman could barely understand. 'Finance' 'Liquidation' 'Assets' 'Investments'... Her voice was crisp and important and had an unfamiliar lilt to it. Her Bee Choo sounded like one of those foreign girls on television. She was speaking in an American accent.

The old lady clucked her tongue in disapproval.

'I absolutely cannot have this. We have to sell!' Her daughter exclaimed agitatedly as she stepped on the accelerator; her perfectly manicured fingernails gripping onto the steering wheel in irritation.

'I can't DEAL with this anymore!' she yelled as she clicked the phone shut and hurled it angrily toward the backseat.

The mobile phone hit the old woman on the forehead and nestled soundlessly into her lap. She calmly picked it up and handed it to her daughter.

'Sorry, Ma,' she said, losing the American pretence and switching to Mandarin. 'I have a big client in America. There have been a lot of problems.'

The old lady nodded knowingly. Her daughter was big and important.

Bee Choo stared at her mother from the rear view window, wondering what she was thinking. Her mother's wrinkled countenance always carried the same cryptic look.

The phone began to ring again, an artificially cheerful digital tune, which broke the awkward silence.

'Hello, Beatrice! Yes, this is Elaine.'

Elaine. The old woman cringed. I didn't name her Elaine. She remembered her daughter telling her, how an English name was very important for 'networking', Chinese ones being easily forgotten.'Oh no, I can't see you for lunch today. I have to take the ancient relic to the temple for her weird daily prayer ritual.'

Ancient Relic!! The old woman understood perfectly it was referring to her. Her daughter always assumed that her mother's silence meant she did not comprehend. 'Yes, I know! My car seats will be reeking of joss sticks!'

The old woman pursed her lips tightly, her hands gripping her plastic bag in defence. The car curved smoothly into the temple courtyard. It looked almost garish next to the dull sheen of the ageing temple's roof. The old woman got out of the back seat, and made her unhurried way to the main hall.

Her daughter stepped out of the car in her business suit and stilettos and reapplied her lipstick as she made her brisk way to her mother's side.

'Ma, I'll wait outside. I have an important phone call to make,' she said, not bothering to hide her disgust at the pungent fumes of incense.

The old lady hobbled into the temple hall and lit a joss stick, she knelt down solemnly and whispered her now familiar daily prayer to the Gods.

Thank you God of the Sky, you have given my daughter luck all these years. Everything I prayed for, you have given her. She has everything a young woman in this world could possibly want. She has a big house with a swimming pool, a maid to help her, as she is too clumsy to sew or cook. Her love life has been blessed; she is engaged to a rich and handsome angmoh1 man. Her company is now the top financial firm and even men listen to what she says. She lives the perfect life. You have given her everything except happiness. I ask that the gods be merciful to her even if she has lost her roots while reaping the harvest of success. What you see is not true; she is a filial daughter to me. She gives me a room in her big house and provides well for me. She is rude to me only because I affect her happiness. A young woman does not want to be hindered by her old mother. It is my fault.

The old lady prayed so hard that tears welled up in her eyes. Finally, with her head bowed in reverence she planted the half-burnt joss stick into an urn of smoldering ashes. She bowed once more.

The old woman had been praying for her daughter for thirty-two years. When her stomach was round like a melon, she came to the temple and prayed that it was a son. Then the time was ripe and the baby slipped out of her womb, bawling and adorable with fat thighs and pink cheeks, but unmistakably, a girl. Her husband had kicked and punched her for producing a useless baby who could not work or carry the family name.

Still, the woman returned to the temple with her new-born girl tied to her waist in a sarong and prayed that her daughter would grow up and have everything she ever wanted. Her husband left her and she prayed that her daughter would never have to depend on a man.

She prayed every day that her daughter would be a great woman, the woman that she, meek and uneducated, could never become. A woman with nengkan; the ability to do anything she set her mind to. A woman who commanded respect in the hearts of men. When she opened her mouth to speak, precious pearls would fall out and men would listen.

She will not be like me, the woman prayed as she watched her daughter grow up and drift away from her, speaking a language she scarcely understood. She watched her daughter transform from a quiet girl, to one who openly defied her, calling her laotu; old-fashioned. She wanted her mother to be 'modern', a word so new there was no Chinese word for it.

Now her daughter was too clever for her and the old woman wondered why she had prayed like that. The gods had been faithful to her persistent prayer, but the wealth and success that poured forth so richly had buried the girl's roots and now she stood, faceless, with no identity, bound to the soil of her ancestors by only a string of origami banknotes.

Her daughter had forgotten her mother's values. Her wants were so ephemeral; that of a modern woman. Power, Wealth, access to the best fashion boutiques, and yet her daughter had not found true happiness. The old woman knew that you could find happiness with much less. When her daughter left the earth everything she had would count for nothing. People would look to her legacy and say that she was a great woman, but she would be forgotten once the wind blows over, like the ashes of burnt paper convertibles and mansions.

The old woman wished she could go back and erase all her big hopes and prayers for her daughter; now she had only one want: That her daughter be happy. She looked out of the temple gate. She saw her daughter speaking on the phone, her brow furrowed with anger and worry. Being at the top is not good, the woman thought, there is only one way to go from there - down.

The old woman carefully unfolded the plastic bag and spread out a packet of beehoon2 in front of the altar.

Her daughter often mocked her for worshipping porcelain Gods. How could she pray to them so faithfully and expect pieces of ceramic to fly to her aid? But her daughter had her own gods too, idols of wealth, success and power that she was enslaved to and worshipped every day of her life Every day was a quest for the idols, and the idols she worshipped counted for nothing in eternity. All the wants her daughter had would slowly suck the life out of her and leave her, an empty soulless shell at the altar.

The old lady watched her joss tick. The dull heat had left a teetering grey stem that was on the danger of collapsing.

Modern woman nowadays, the old lady sighed in resignation, as she bowed to the east one final time to end her ritual. Modern woman nowadays want so much that they lose their souls and wonder why they cannot find it. Her joss stick disintegrated into a soft grey powder.

She met her daughter outside the temple, the same look of worry and frustration was etched on her daughter's face. An empty expression, as if she was ploughing through the soil of her wants looking for the one thing that would sow the seeds of happiness.

They climbed into the convertible in silence and her daughter drove along the highway, this time not as fast as she had done before.

'Ma,' Bee Choo finally said. 'I don't know how to put this. Mark and I have been talking about it and we plan to move out of the big house. The property market is good now, and we managed to get a buyer willing to pay seven million for it. We decided we'd prefer a cosier penthouse apartment instead. We found a perfect one in Orchard Road. Once we move in to our apartment we plan to get rid of the maid, so we can have more space to ourselves...'

The old woman nodded knowingly.

Bee Choo swallowed hard. 'We'd get someone to come in to do the housework and we can eat out-but once the maid is gone, there won't be anyone to look after you. You will be awfully lonely at home and, besides that, the apartment is rather small. There won't be space. We thought about it for a long time, and we decided the best thing for you is if you moved to a Home.

There's one near Hougang-it's a Christian home, a very nice one.'

The old woman did not raise an eyebrow.

'I've been there, the matron is willing to take you in. It's beautiful with gardens and lots of old people to keep you company! I hardly have time for you, you'd be happier there.'

'You'd be happier there, really.' Her daughter repeated as if to affirm herself.

This time the old woman had no plastic bag of food offerings to cling tightly to; she bit her lip and fastened her seat belt, as if it would protect her from a daughter who did not want her anymore. She sunk deep into the leather seat, letting her shoulders sag, and her fingers trace the white seat.

'Ma?' her daughter asked, searching the rear view window for her mother.

'Is everything okay?'

What had to be done, had to be done. 'Yes,' she said firmly, louder than she intended, 'if it will make you happy,' she added more quietly.

'It's for you, Ma! You'll be happier there. You can move there tomorrow, I already got the maid to pack your things.' Elaine said triumphantly, mentally ticking yet another item off her agenda. 'I knew everything would be fine.'

Elaine smiled widely; she felt liberated. Perhaps getting rid of her mother would make her happier. She had thought about it. It seemed the only hindrance in her pursuit of happiness. She was happy now. She had everything a modern woman ever wanted; Money, Status, Career, Love, Power and now, Freedom, without her mother and her old-fashioned ways to weigh her down...

Yes, she was free. Her phone buzzed urgently, she picked it up and read the message, still beaming from ear to ear. 'Stocks 10% increase!' Yes, things were definitely beginning to look up for her...

And while searching for the meaning of life in the luminance of her hand phone screen, the old woman in the backseat became invisible, and she did not see the tears flowing down.

My AnkLe HuRts...

Just returned from outside. Went early this morning for rag dance. Was strenuous but fun though. Strenuous cuz there was a lot of running today. We hardly touch cartwheels and parallel lifting. Only once or twice. But the final display of warcraft I was really good I think, although there are still many areas of improvements. There is another dance practice on wednesday @ 0900. (So early!!) Anyway received news that two freshies are pulling out of the dance because of other committments. So disappointing. Now we are short of two people!! And we have to retrain those new raggers. But hey, the two guys who left didn't learn a lot as they only attended one practice. Thank god!

Went orchard with Valerie, Charles, Kat, Wei Sheng and Eunice. Went to book the KTV room for tomolo's KTV session. (Actually a dual birthday celebration - Gina and Sheena). Later went over to Swenson to place an order for a 1kg black forest ice-cream cake. Oh yah, before these, we went to Orchard Cineleisure to check the movies timings. I didn't watch though. They did.. think it was the show - Visitors (horror show I guess judging from the movie poster). After that we went to Heeren to look for present for Sheena. End up buying a bag that looks like Val's and Kat's and Ian's bag. Haha..

After they left for movie, I went to meet my friends in AMK for dinner and a walk around. Went to eat at KFC. Shared a buddy satay chicken burger meal.

The burger wasn't that nice. Cuz the taste gets a bit bland as you eat more of the burger. Maybe its the satay sauce. In fact the sauce wasn't even fluid. It was just a solid chunk. Maybe left for too long. Reality and advertising are always very very different. Haha...

Didn't really do much though as I left quite early @ 8+ cuz I was tired and my ankle was very sore (sprained several times in NS, so ankle quite loose). Anyway reached home and went to bathe and massage and scrubed my leg. Ankle's pretty alright now but could do better with a hot towel..

aLarM cLoCk...

Just got an alarm clock... my 8250 died and I can't find my charger so no more alarm from that phone. Heh... Its a seiko alarm clock and looks pretty cool. But I guess some days I'll still hit the snooze button and go back to sleep.. haha...

WhAt MoDuLeS tO tAkE...

Was planning my time table this morning and realised that if nothing goes wrong, I should have one free day - Friday. Not too sure.. I could swap either Tuesday or Friday I think cuz I reserved both days for lab. Planning to take inorganic, spectro, physical and intro to computing. Chem in space not sure yet... may change to understanding universe or heavenly maths. Like that can clear my faculty requirements.

I also discovered that pharmacy is under BOTH biological and chemical sciences. Hmm..... Whatever the case.. still deciding whether to minor or not.. Might be a little late I guess. year 2 then start minoring.

What a boring day today is. Tuition later then nothing else liao. Tomolo got rag dance which would be fun as we'll be going through what we did last Friday. Looking forward to the dance practice.

Have not caught much shows recently. The last one was spiderman 2. Now got King Arthur and Brotherhood. Hoping to catch both before they are taken off screen. Also waiting for I, Robot to be released. There would be sneaks at GV tonight. But can't go cuz sleeping early. Check the trailers of I, Robot.

Alright... going tuition liao... au revoir

A LoNg sLeEp...

Wah... slept all the way through since last night 8.30pm. Must be really shagged out from the many days of not enough sleep.. Haha.. can't blame lah.. online gaming more enticing. Woke up at 11.30pm today realised that its been more than 12 hours since I slept. Haha. lazy pig sia. Anyway checked with starhub liao regarding the incident and they recommended applying (free of course) a PIN to protect against unauthorised modification of my starhub plans. Hehe...

Monday having rag dance again. Getting more fun cuz we are finally getting into formation liao. Yay... Can't wait for the full dress rehearsal (if there is one). I wonder how come our measurements have not been taken yet... Hmm......

By the way, it seems that the infrared can work afterall... its the USB cable fault. My friend tested it on his computer and it works fine. Hmm... get it from him in the evening and test it again. Heh...

RaG DaNcE & NuIsaNce CaLLs...

Rag was fun today.. finally completed Warcraft I (no... not the game but a scene.) Looks awesome I think. I guess we are looking forward to more stunts next monday. Hee hee.. Rag dance ended around 3.15 pm then headed to science for lunch, albeit a late one. By the way, for those interested to know, the prospectus is selling as a pack now instead of per booklet. Its $8.50 at the co-op for the whole package - I think it includes all faculties. Anyway got a lift to Bukit Batok MRT by one of my freshies - Matthew.

Received a call on the way to BB, realised that she got the wrong number. I think. Claimed to be calling from starhub but I called Starhub and checked. Starhub says that if they do call customers, it would be a private number. Damm it.. I gave the caller my I/C and handphone number. Hopefully nothing's gonna happen. I think I better make a police report soon.. (Is it a bit exagerrating?!) I have to wait for my monthly bill to decide.

Reached home around 5.30pm. And going to sleep liao...

InFrArEd DoN't wOrk aS WeLL...

Went back to sim lim to change my bluetooth adaptor for an infrared one. Damm... infrared one doesn't work as well. Don't know what's wrong. In the end so fed up, did a format of my computer to clean out the trash. (About time too since my norton antivirus subscription is expiring.) Anyway after the 1st re-installation, something cock up, multiple virus infections... cleared them all and followed by patching from Microsoft website. So bloody slow.. Left my computer on and went to sleep...

Today woke up and saw that the update is complete but later on got virus attack again. This time even worse, the virus infected a file that cannot be deleted!!! Did a 2nd formatting. And everything became fine. Guess the problem was I didn't install the firewall before the patching. Now I know how the virus can find your way to your computer without YOU even knowing. Heh.

Now my computer's alright and running pretty fast. Heh heh.. Warcraft.. here I come...

Here are some pics taken using my phone. Not too bad actually. Had to use easycoy's laptop to upload to my computer.

BluE-nO-tOotH...

Wah sianz. Bought a bluetooth adaptor from Sim Lim. Can't work!!!!! Have to go and change to an infrared port liao. Sianz.. I feel that infrared port is more reliable and steady albeit a slower upload/download speed. Took some pics today but argh..... can't upload. Damm...

Rag practice tomolo. Hope my sore arms and thighs would have more or less recovered by then. Another day of "exercise". At the end of it sure get huge thighs. Ahh... I don't want... My thighs already quite humongous.

Monday, July 12, 2004

RaG DaNcE...

Argh.. woke up late today and took a cab to school. Sigh... Really damm shag after Sat and Sun. Yawnz..

Today's rag dance was pretty strenuous. Cartwheels and back flips coupled with crab-walk and fire-wheels. Whew, my arms are sore man.. Haha... But overall was an enjoyable experience.

Checked out the price for the data cable for my phone and found out that it is out of stock, which was good though as it cost a hefty $98. So expensive! I rather go get an infrared port for my desktop. Haha...

I think I better sleep early tonight. Haven been getting enough sleep recently. So busy with stuff since last saturday.

Anyway does anyone think I should add a tag board on my blog??

NeW CaMeRa PhOnE...

Yippie.. Just bought my new phone today. Haha.. can't upload pics cuz i need the connection cable and besides it is still charging. 8 hours of charging. Bought it today at Bishan J8. Was on promotion.. and I needed a new phone. The old one always hanged on me.

Rag dance tomolo. My first rag dance practice. Hopefully the dance is a easy to learn one. Haha... dun wish to look like a clown. Hee hee...

Oh yes, stumbled upon this interesting site. Who Lives Near You? Basically a Friendster for singaporeans. You can really find out who's in your block and those living near you. Sounds cool? Register today!

So tired.. tuition today in the morning and afternoon. The evening one was cancelled. Guess she scared I scold her again. Haha.. This means that I won't get paid till next week. Sigh.

ALIVE! 2004...

Yawns.. finally came back from the charity carnival ALIVE! 2004 at the Youth Park. Met the rest at 1245 at somerset MRT (although I reached at 1 pm.. ha ha..)Anyway, saw val, shu hui, kat and dexter. Sheena got some cramps.. (you know what cramp lah..) Justin turned up, but later left to meet some friends... %%$*#$#&#@$. Anyway we proceed to Yoshinoya to have lunch then head towards Youth Park.

There isn't very much booths there. But they were interesting enough. A booth set up by MJC performed magic tricks hoping that we'll support them and buy their handicrafts. There was one that offer tattoing service courtesy of ACJC. NYJC also set up their booth selling key chains that are too big to stuff into an average pocket. Of course, the NKF Children Medical Fund ppl were there too to promote their upcoming charity show the next two sundays.

There were performances too by various bands and our very own Talentquest 2003 participants. Some can really sing. And guess what, the guy who appear in Top Fun, whom can mimic Andy Lau, Ronald Cheng, Phil Chang, Jacky Cheung and Aaron Kwok, appear to sing us a few songs and my, was he really great at singing.

In addition to that, a hip-hop dance troupe came down and did some really cool and fabulous dances and moves. Really won a lot of applause.

Following that was a magic show at 5 pm but I missed it as I went with others to give phamplets in order to draw more crowd to the Youth Park. Apparently, many don't know where Youth Park is. Our mascot was a giant sunflower and tagged along. Of course, heart-shaped balloons were given away together with the phamplets. But I think that most people are attracted by the balloons rather than the phamplets.

After all the balloons were given out, we returned to the booth to take a break and watch more singing performances. The last event of the day was a live rock band performance. Didn't really enjoyed it actually. Luckily we are about to proceed to give the last of the phamplets away, so didn't really watch them at all lest one song.

After the phamplet giving, headed for dinner. Val had 4 balloons tied to one another so that when she walked, the whole trail of balloons was following her. Luckily there was no lightning storm. She would make a very good lightning conductor. Hee hee... Anyway had dinner at thie Turkish cafe in Far East. The food there was good although the portions was quite big for the ladies. I ordered a Chicken Pancake. It is essentially chicken kebab in a popiah roll. But the filling was delicious. Should try it someday.

After dinner, headed for home. Shu hui and Wei sheng left for work. Counting the number of ppl who visited the Food Fair 2004. The rest headed for home...

Yawn, and I have reached home and typing this very post. Oh yah... saw the N6230 going for quite a reasonable price. 398 dollars. Hmm.. if I trade in, it'll be 329. And it was only going at 500+ a few weeks back. Talk about price fluctuations. Will get it tomolo when I get my pay. Yay!!!!

HoSt JuMp...

Today, swap host liao. Dumped diaryland for blogspot. Finally know how to block that ad on the main page. Hee hee.. Blogspot not too bad.. except the template thingy is buggy I think.. Hehe..

Anyway cough getting better.. Thanks to the vitamin C that I bought.. Hmm.. works wonders when it comes to beefing the immune system.

Did nothing much today.. ate breakfast then went to work on the "blog swap" the whole day. Missed dinner too.. Luckily easycoy came and brought me some food. BK Big fish. Hee hee...

ThE LonGeSt DaY...

Went for the FOW prep camp today. Wasn't that fun cuz we spend a lot of time waiting. And we only did mass dance and fright night. The ice breakers was a little not too boring though.

Mass dance was slow and draggy. The choerographer was like repeating themselves over small details like how far apart you should be from you partner when you do this.. and the list goes on... SCAMP mass dance was much much 10000% better and the SCAMP dance was FASTER too.

Fright night was okie although the atmosphere wasn't there. Maybe cuz it was in NUS and some of the stations were like lecture theaters and normal staircases and also the fact that we knew some of the actresses and actors. heh.. that really took out the fright factor. But kudos to the makeup and the effort to make the LT scarier. It was really cool to use red cellophane paper to create red lights in the LT. The ghost with the mask was real scary too. Well done! Overall, was pretty good and it'll be better on the actual day!!

Dun think I'll go to the FOW prep tomolo. Would be helping rag though. So still be in school ya..

Alright, time to sleep. Been out the whole day and its, oh god!, its already 2 am in the morning. Sigh... Time isn't enough if you are having fun, is it? Nitey nite...

SpidEy 2...

Caught Spidey 2 today. Was great although the ending was a bit wierd. Somehow left dangling in the air. Suggesting a Spidey 3??

Prep camp for FOW tomolo. 1pm to 11pm. Fright night rehearsal and would be the station master. Sianz.. Another three days of prep camp. Haha.. but it will be fun I bet. Hee hee

Cough subsiding... finally decide to leave me alone. Yeah.. can talk without coughing in between words. A good sign on a Monday. This week is gonna be okie!

TuiTion WoEs...

A day of tuition finally ended. From CCK in the morning to AMK in the afternoon and finally woodlands in the evening. My, what a hectic day indeed.

Gave one of my tutees back her paper. (the one who failed). Gosh, she cried in front of me. I was like !!!!!! Aiyoh, I never scold her leh, just raised my voice a little. Maybe it is the fact that she has failed a paper. But she only failed by one mark. And this is only a mock paper, not even her school or the A's.

Tried to console her and explain to her that it is ok that she makes mistakes now rather than during the A's. Aiyoh... Reminds me of myself when I failed my Geography paper in secondary 4. But it was a school paper then.

Tuition aside, the day's been pretty dull. Getting my pay next week. 500 bucks. Hee hee.. maybe go and get my handphone. Haha..*dreamily*

FOW prep camp coming soon.. Should be next wed, thurs and fri. Not really sure, must check it out liao. Scarli tomolo!!! Then how to watch my spidey and how to tan myself.

OnE dAy SuMmaRy...

Pretty boring day. Woke up at 10, went to Mac for breakfast with Mr. E, then window shopped around CWP and at the same time sent the photos we took at ECP to develop. Loiter for about an hour then head back home.

Rest till 3.30pm then bathe and head off for tuition. Very nice weather today. Strong wind and dark skies. Managed to survive the 2 hours of tuition and went back home to mark the papers.

Her paper was atrocious. Failed!!! How could she! Wonder whether has she been studying. And her exams are just 4 days away. Argh! Must scold her tomolo!

After marking her paper, went to set the Prelims paper for my two A level students. Dun want to spend my term time setting papers. And now finally after setting the paper, I am typing this blog.

And that, dear readers, is the saturday I had on the 3rd of July 2004.

Still coughing...

Yawn.. couldn't sleep. Medicine not working yet... Still coughing.. Not good... I hate the coughing. My neck is now aching from the excessive coughing. no cold drinks for the next few days I presume.

Tomolo got tuition!! Sianz.. Can't help it. Their common test are here. Have to pull their grades up else I get to eat "fried cuttlefish". Luckily tomolo is just invigilating a paper. Not that strenuous also...

It's getting late. I am going to sleep. May the moon watch over me.

CyClinG...

Went to see the doc finally today after so many days of coughing. Gave me some medications and I paid $20 dollars for that.

Went to east coast for cycling today as well as to celebrate Joe's birthday. Not much sun today. The sun was weak but the winds were strong. Loved it when it kissed my cheeks and flowed through my hair. Overall, we didn't do that much @ ECP cuz we reached there only around 2, cycled for 2 hours, tok cock for another 1 hour before heading to Marche for dinner. Pretty simple day ya.

After dinner, went to buy cake for Joe but ended up buying 3 muffins for $1.40. Haha.. budget cake. Later on went to the foyer next to Marina Square to celebrate.

Quite an eventful day I must say. My blisters are healing quite well too. Let's just hope that my cough will go away by tomolo.
